The best way to evaluate a product you might want to purchase is to learn
what other users say about it. Here are the experiences of several
Doug Nipp. Texan Doug Nipp uses his Challenger in two situations. He is
both a self-employed carpet cleaner, and he provides regularly contracted
carpet cleaning services for an apartment complex. He says "The Challenger
does it all for me, even in the most heavily soiled rental units. It does
everything I ask of it, and I love the way it cleans. Even after running
for hours on end, it has never overheated on me".
Lisa Richardson manages an apartment community in Plainfield, Indiana. She
personally cleans the carpets when units become empty, as well as at two
other apartment complexes. Of her Challenger, she says: "It cleans
AWESOME. It's easy to use. It's excellent at removing spots and stains.
And the cost of cleaning chemicals is very low".
Brian in Illinois (shy about letting his last name be used) has extensive
experience cleaning abused carpets in rental communities. He says: "The
Challenger is able to get out the stains that steamers can't get. It's
great on berber carpet. The quality of the results I'm able to get with
the Challenger enables me to price it as a PREMIUM SERVICE. It's easy to
use. Even the worst looking carpet comes right back".
Kyle Zimmer of K&K Carpet Care, Moline, Illinois remembers being pleasantly
surprised when he was forced to substitute a Challenger for his truck mount
when it was necessary to take it off the road for a few days for repairs.
He says he quickly realized "This (the Challenger) really works. My long-
time, high-end customers realized that they were still receiving quality
carpet cleaning as before, but they were delighted that their drying times
had been greatly reduced". Kyle says he also saw how well the Challenger
could perform in cleaning up trashed-out carpeting in nasty rental apart-
ments. Another benefit: "The set-up time is so much quicker and easier than
with the truck mount".
Steve Kennedy, Kirkland, Washington, on his use of the Challenger for
encapsulation cleaning on outdoor carpeting: "I applied the encap cleaner
a section of carpet in front of my own unit, let it dwell for a few minutes,
then went at it with the Challenger. It worked great! The
difference was like night and day between the cleaned and the uncleaned
Steve Shimek, Circle Pines, Minnesota, describes his very first attempt at
using a Challenger - in his own home: "I cleaned my living room carpet
that had not been cleaned in ten years. I got out a lot of nasty traffic
area dirt as well as some "mystery" stains. Nothing wicked back. I
did a job at a daycare center at a church. The carpet was a mess, but it
came out looking great. I am happy with the results I am able to get with
Brian Hines, DryBrite Carpet Care, Dedham, Mass. "My customers are very
happy that they can walk on their carpets so soon. I can charge more for
this feature, and they don't mind paying more for the convenience".
Pete Silverstein, New Rochelle, New York - a recent convert to Challenger's
OP (orbital pad) cleaning: "I got my Challenger last week and immediately
put it to use - on an ancient shag rug that hadn't been cleaned in over
25 years. I fired up the Challenger and let 'er rip. WOW! The performance
was phenomenal. I couldn't believe how easy it was to handle.
I even let my 4- and 6-year old sons have a turn. In no time the rug was
clean. The owner was thrilled".
"Some years ago I had a carpet cleaning business using a portable HWE unit.
While I had considered purchasing another this time around, I'm so glad that
I discovered the Challenger. I'm getting the same or better results,
with none of the HWE disadvantages. Unlike a portable, the Challenger is
quiet, easy to set up and handle, leaves the carpet nearly dry, and gets
the job done quickly. I use an all-natural cleaning product which appeals
to people's desire for a chemical-free environment. All in all, I couldn't
be more impressed".
Maurice Conway, Eco-Clean Carpet Care, Duxbury, Mass. "Challenger user
Mark Dullea (Drysdale's Carpet Care, Peabody, Mass.) allowed me to follow
him around on several jobs in order for me to be able to evaluate the
Challenger in a variety of situations. I found I was becoming more
impressed on each job site. Perhaps the greatest convincer was a job at a
Days Hotel in Boston, where we were cleaning the carpeting in the hallways.
I just couldn't believe the amount of soil we were getting out, as evidenced
by the blackened terrycloth pads we were using. The Challenger
is a great machine".
Rick Davies, Country Roads
Carpet Cleaning, Atkinson NH, commenting on
work carried out with his
Challenger: "I have had nothing but high praise
from my customers. They love
